Our Commitment
Accessibility Statement
All Florida Mediation is committed to making our website usable by everyone, including people who use assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnification, voice recognition software, or keyboard-only navigation. Accessibility is something we actively build for and continue to improve, not a one-time checklist.
Conformance Target
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more usable for everyone. This site has not undergone a formal third-party accessibility audit, but it has been built and reviewed against these standards directly, including a review completed in September 2026 that measured every text color against its actual rendered background, checked the whole site by keyboard, and read every page through screen reader emulation.
Measures We've Taken
- Semantic HTML landmarks (header, navigation, main content, footer) so assistive technology can identify and jump between page regions.
- A "skip to main content" link for keyboard users, and a visible focus indicator on every interactive element.
- Keyboard focus that stays clear of the fixed header and the cookie notice, so a control is never scrolled underneath them when you tab to it.
- Text color combinations checked against WCAG AA contrast minimums (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text and interface components).
- Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images, and empty alt attributes on purely decorative ones so they're skipped by screen readers.
- Full keyboard operability for the mobile navigation menu, including focus trapping while it's open and focus return when it closes.
- A visible pause control for the auto-playing background video on our homepage, and full support for your device's "reduce motion" setting. The video is silent, decorative, and carries no information, so it is marked to be skipped by screen readers rather than described.
- A way to book without JavaScript: with scripting turned off, the calendar is replaced by our mediators' direct phone numbers and email addresses rather than left as an empty panel.
- Descriptive labels and live-region status updates on our interactive booking calendar, so available and booked dates are announced in text, not conveyed by color alone.
- Forms with associated labels, clear required-field handling, and status messages announced to assistive technology as they update.
Known Limitations
Despite our efforts, some parts of this site may not yet be fully accessible. Known limitations include:
- Our review has been automated testing, manual keyboard testing, and screen reader emulation — reading the whole site through software that follows the same specifications a screen reader does. We have not yet sat with people who use screen readers daily, and that kind of testing finds things ours does not.
- We have not tested with speech recognition software such as Dragon, or with braille displays.
- Some of our page headings are styled to break across two lines. We have checked that they are still read as complete sentences, but if anything on this site reads oddly in your screen reader, we would genuinely like to hear about it.
